Thank you so much for visiting.

Before I moved to Arizona, I had an impression in my mind of the desert...
I imagined it would be dusty, dry, and full of tumbleweeds with vultures flying about overhead - and that would be about it.  To my surprise, I found that
the desert has a unique beauty all its own and I have grown to love it.
With these photos I'd like to share just a small portion of this magical and mystical region.  I hope you will enjoy them.

East of Mesa are the Superstition Mountains.
Legend has it that the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine remains
hidden somewhere within its rocky depths.

The Superstitions wilderness is a 250 mile slice of Sonoran Desert and
mountains in the Tonto National Forest. It begins at Apache Junction
and stretches east and north beyond Canyon Lake.

When visiting out of state in snow belt areas and someone discovers that I live in Arizona, a
comment  that often follows is something like,  "It gets really hot there in the summer - doesn't it?"
Yes, it does and if you check  back now and then you will see how hot it does get.
Phoenix is also known as the Valley  of the Sun - the sun shines an  average of
320 days per  year and even though it gets  hot in the summer months, the winters
are very mild and warm-another reason why I love living in this part of the world.
