Things are not always as they appear
TOUCH THE ROSE

S
ometimes when faith is running low
and I cannot fathom why things are so,
I walk alone among the flowers that
grow and learn the answers to all
 I would know.

For among God's flowers
I have come to see
Life's miracles and its mystery.
And standing in silence
and reverie my faith
is renewed to me.

comes flooding back to me

M
ost of the battles of life
are won by looking beyond
the clouds to the sun.
And having patience
 to wait for the day
when the sun comes out
and the clouds float away

O
ne thing never changes.
It remains the same forever.
God truly loves His children
and He will forsake them never!

Lord,
Open my eyes so I may see
and feel Your presence close to me.
Give me strength for my stumbling feet
as I battle the crowd on life's busy street.
And widen the vision of my unseeing eyes
so in passing faces I'll recognize
not just a stranger, unloved, and unknown,
but a friend with a heart
that is much like my own.

People need people
and friends need friends
And we all need love,
for a full life depends not
on vast riches or great
acclaim, not on success
or on worldly fame,
but just in knowing that
someone cares and holds us
close in their thoughts and prayers

     For only the knowledge
           that we're understood
           makes everyday living
           feel wonderfully good.

We rob ourselves of life's greatest need
when we lock up our hearts and fail to heed the outstretched hand reaching to find a kindred spirit whose heart and mind are lonely and longing to somehow share our joys and sorrows and to make us aware that life's completeness and richness depends on the things we share with our loved ones and friends.

Give us through the coming year
quietness of mind
Teach us to be patient
and always to be kind.
Give us reassurance
when everything goes wrong
so our faith remains unfaltering
and our hope and courage strong.
And show us that in quietness
we can feel Your presence near
filling us with joy and peace
throughout the coming year.

I see His blood upon the Rose
And in the stars the glory of His eyes,
His body gleams amid eternal snows
His tears fall from the skies.

I see His face in every flower;
The thunder and the surging of the birds
Are but His voice carven by His power
Rocks are His written words.

All pathways by His feet are worn,
His strong heart stirs the ever-beating sea,
His crown of thorns is twined
with every thorn
H
is cross is every tree.

Come Touch the Rose

© Pamela R. Blaine

Swathed in white bunting
Little hands, tiny toes
Fresh life from heaven,
He said,
"Come, touch the Rose"

I walked the path winding
To where beauty grows,
The dew kissed your face,
He said,
"Come, touch the Rose

From darkness to morning
Life draws to a close
Hear the words of the Father,
He said,
"Come, touch the Rose"

So fragile your countenance,
Filled with life's woes
Though I fear to come
near you He said,
 "Come, touch the Rose"

No words can you tell me
Thought no longer flows
I want so to reach you...
He said,
"Come, touch the Rose"

If we should meet and you forget me
You have lost nothing.
But if you meet Jesus and forget Him,
You have lost everything.

John 13:34
